Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- A fire broke out at a garment factory at Konabari in the Gazipur Industrial belt on Friday morning.
The fire might have originated from electric short circuit around 6:45 am on the 7th floor of the MM Knitwear Factory and spread instantly, Abu Zafar Ahmed, station officer of Gazipur Fire Service and Civil Defence, said.
On information, four firefighting units from Gazipur and Kaliakoir rushed to the spot and doused the blaze after two hours of hectic efforts, according to the Fire Service and Civil Defence officials.
There were no workers inside the factory as it is a weekly holiday, they added.
The extent of loss caused by the fire could not be estimated immediately.
