Gas supply to Rajshahi industrial units starts

Rajshahi, Bangladesh (BBN) - The gas supply to Rajshahi city has started through providing connection to two of the industrial units in the country’s northern metropolis.
Two factories- Taskin Aluminum Factory and Ruchita Bakery- at BSCIC Estate were given gas connection experimentally on Wednesday last and they will get final gas connection within the days of two or three next.
A large number of industrial units will be brought under the pipeline-based gas supply for the first time in the Rajshahi's history within the next few days, officials said.
At least 35 industrial units have, so far, applied for gas connection and connection will be given to those who will fulfill the requisite conditions, a senior official of the Pashimanchal Gas Company Limited (PGCL), adding that the issue of providing household connection is on process.
Meanwhile, commissioning work on the 270-kilometer Rajshahi city gas distribution network is going on full swing and 65 percent work has completed successfully till Wednesday.
