Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– General Electric (GE), a US multinational conglomerate, is willing to increase its investment in Bangladesh.
It is also planning to expand its activities in the country.
“GE has been working to increase its investment here because an investment friendly atmosphere is prevailing in this country,” GE south Asia president and chief executive officer (CEO) Banmali Agrawala said during a meeting with executive chairman of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Kazi M Aminul Islam in Dhaka on Monday.
BIDA chairman highlighted different reforms activities of the present government for the improvement of the investment atmosphere and assured GE of extending all-out cooperation from BIDA for expansion of its investment in Bangladesh, according to a BIDA statement.
GE’s country manager Md Nawshad Ali, GE’s South Asia Corporate and Policy Affairs senior Counsel, vice-president Abidur Rahman Chowdhury and sales director of GE power services Sartaj Bhuiyan were present at the meeting.
GE has long been engaged in Bangladesh power sector for a long time. It is also working in health care, energy transmission and distribution, aviation sector of Bangladesh.
