Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – The price of gold has crossed BDT 60,000 per ‘bhori’ for the first time in Bangladesh following its price hike in the global market, traders said.
The price of 22-carat gold will be increased by BDT 1,066 per ‘bhori’ in the local market from Monday. The price of 21-carat gold will be raised by BDT 1,008 per ‘bhori’, 18-carat by BDT 933, and that of traditional gold by BDT 806 per ‘bhori’.
The newly fixed prices of gold are: 22-carat gold BDT 60,128 per ‘bhori’, 21-carat BDT 57,445, 18-carat BDT 49,222, and traditional gold BDT 37,908 per ‘bhori’, the Bangladesh Jewellers Samity (BJS) said.
“The last highest price of 22-carat gold in the local market was BDT 59,895 per ‘bhori’ (11.664 grams) in September last, and now it is setting a new landmark,” a senior member of the BJS said.
He also said the price of gold reached $1,774 per ounce in the international market on February 24, and on that day we took the decision of re-fixing its prices in the local market.
