Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Bangladesh’s jewellers will revise the price of gold upward if its international market price crosses $1,400 per ounce, a leader of the Bangladesh Jewellers Samity (BJS) said.
“The gold price has been showing an upward trend in the international market for last few days and we are observing it. If the trend continues and the price crosses US$1,400 an ounce, we will increase the same in the domestic market,” a BJS senior leader said.
The gold price in the international market fluctuated from $1,370.71 to $1,352.50 per ounce Friday, according to goldprice.org.
The current prices in local market are: a bhori (11.664 gram) of 22-carat gold BDT 9,572; 21-carat BDT 47,356; 18-carat BDT 40,591 and the traditional gold BDT 28,344, the BJS said.
The local jewellers revised the gold price downwards on September 14 based on its international price at $ 1,304.96 to $ 1,331.04 an ounce.
On August 18, the gold prices were: a bhori (11.664 gram) of 22-carat BDT 50,738; 21-carat BDT 48,464; 18-carat BDT 41,524 and the traditional gold BDT 29,160.
