Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Gold prices increased over the last week, rising near all-time highs of around US$ 1,264 an ounce.

Initially prices were hurt on a rebounding stock market and optimism that the U.S. economy would not fall back into recession.

However, prices rebounded to reach two-month highs of US$ 1,262.25 an ounce on Wednesday as worries over Euro zone banks spread, according to reports.

A recovery in the stock markets and profit taking by investors pushed the bullion to hover below USD 1,260 level on Thursday.
