Gonojagoron Mancha calls 6-hr strike in Sylhet

Sylhet, Bangladesh (BBN)-The Gonojagoron Mancha called a six-hour strike in Sylhet Division, a north-eastern city of Bangladesh, protesting the murder of blogger Ananta Bijoy Das.
Unidentified assailants stabbed and hammered Das, a relentless writer on science, to death around 8:30am Tuesday, nearly 100 feet away from his residence at Subid Bazar in Airport Police Station of the Sylhet city, Mohammad Rahmatullah, the additional deputy commissioner (media coordinator) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police, told the BBN.
Das was the key organiser of Sylhet Gonojagoron Mancha and regularly wrote for Muktomona, a blog, founded by Avijit Roy, another blogger who was stabbed dead in February in Dhaka.
The strike will be observed from 6:00am, Debashish Debu the local unit chief of the Gonojagoron Mancha, said in a press conference at Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.
