Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Goolge, a leading Web search engine, is ready to provide various internet-based extended services, including video conference facilities, to Bangladesh.
A two-member delegation of Google expressed the interest during a meeting with Posts and Telecommunications Minister Rajiuddin Ahmed Raju at his office in the capital Dhaka on Tuesday.
The delegation members — Public policy and Government Affairs officer of Google Asia Pacific region William Fitzgerald and Product Manager Divon Lan — appreciated the progress of Bangladesh in ICT, especially in telecommunications, an official statement said.
People are enjoying the benefits of telecommunications facilities as the government has reached the facilities to 90 percent areas of the country, the telecommunications minister said, adding that the rate of internet use has increased to 18 percent from 3.0 percent in the last three years.
