Government borrows BDT 5.0 billion thru' T-bills

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - The government borrowed BDT 5.0 billion on Sunday through auctions of treasury bills, resulting in withdrawal of the money from the market this week.

The central bank conducted auctions of 91-day and 364-day treasury bills on the day in line with auction calendar, treasury officials said.

Bidders offered bids for Tk 9.674 billion and Tk 7.065 billion respectively for 91-day and 364-day bills. The central bank, however, accepted Tk 2.50 billion and Tk 2.50 billion for the 91-day and 364-day bills respectively.

"The ranges of the implicit yield of the accepted bids were 2.00-2.15 per cent and 5.02-5.71 per cent annually respectively," the central bank said in a press statement.
