Govt borrows BDT 16.50bn issuing T-bills

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - The government borrowed BDT 16.50 billion from the banks through issuing its treasury bills (T-bills) on Sunday, officials said.

Total 28 bids of BDT 8.7376 billion for 91-Day T-bills and 42 bids of BDT 9.8898 billion for 182-Day T-bills were offered.

Of those, 17 bids of BDT 6.36 billion for 91-Day T-bills and 29 bids of BDT 7.41 billion for 182-Day T-bills were accepted.

Accordingly, BDT 1.2840 billion was devolved on primary dealers (PDs) and BDT 856 million was devolved on non-PD banks for 91-Day T- bills. BDT 354 million was devolved on PDs and BDT 236 million was devolved on non-PD banks for 182-Day T-bills.

The range of the implicit yield of the accepted bid was 6.40-6.75 percent and 7.05-7.30 percent respectively, according to the auction result.
