Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Former prime minister of Bangladesh Khaleda Zia Saturday claimed that the government has become afraid so it resisted holding any rally.

Khaleda, also the chief of BNP, made the comment as law enforcers foiled a rally of pro-BNP lawyers on the Supreme Court premises Saturday.

In the face of the obstruction, the lawyers held a protest rally at Jatiya Press Club in the capital, Dhaka.

Addressing the rally, Khaleda said the government is patronising the law enforcers in committing crimes to cling to power.

She also questioned government’s legality in placing the national budget in parliament saying, the government cannot place the budget as it is “illegal”.

The government is scheduled to place national budget on June 5 for the FY 2014-15.

She also reiterated her long-standing demand for holding a fresh election under a neutral government.

The Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Samity was set to hold the rally on the SC premises protesting abduction and killing of seven-murder in Narayanganj and demanding justice and establishment of rule of law in the country.

Khaleda also urged the government to disband the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) and stop using police forces frequently in criminal activities.
