Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-The heavyweight, GrameenPhone (GP) dominated the week’s top turnover chart on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) last week that ended on Thursday.
A total of 55.64 million share worth BDT 1.73 billion changed hands during the week.
Daily average turnover for the company was BDT 347.50 million.
The week’s closing price of each GP share was BDT 323.9.
A market lot is 200 shares. Of the total shares – 90 percent held by sponsor-directors, 6.04 percent held by institutional investors while only 3.96 percent held by public, according to DSE website.
The company listed in the major bourse in 2009.
Brokers said that the investors went for GP share as the company’s half yearly net profit more than double to BDT 10.60 billion between (January- June, 2014) against BDT 5.11 billion the same period last year.
The company also declared 95 percent interim cash dividend.
It was followed by Beximco Limited BDT 1.64 billion, MJL BD BDT 1.44 billion, ACI Limited BDT 1.01 billion, Lafarge Surma Cement BDT 748.12 million, Golden Son BDT 733.58 million, Square Pharma BDT 728.61 million, Peninsula Chittagong BDT 693.81 million, Shahjibazar Power Company BDT 666.98 million and Meghna Petroleum BDT 665.77 million changing hands during the week.
