Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Grassroots women entrepreneurs have demanded BDT 1.0 billion allocation in the next fiscal year (FY) budget for easy access to bank loans.
They also demanded proper implementation of the budgetary allocation to enhance the grassroots women’s participation in the economic activities.
“Most commercial banks do not follow the central bank’s directive of providing collateral-free loan at a lower rate,” Mousumi Islam, president of Association of Grassroots Women Entrepreneurs, Bangladesh said.
She also said the government should allocate BDT 1.0 billion in the upcoming budget so that grassroots women entrepreneurs can get loan at a lower rate from any branch of the commercial banks.
Ms Islam stressed the need for setting up trade centres in districts so that entrepreneurs can get necessary information and service and market their products.
