Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Chief executive officer of Sweden-based fashion retailer H&M Karl Johan Persson arrives in the capital Dhaka on Monday on a one-day’s visit.
“H&M is one of the leading importers of Bangladeshi garment products and the CEO will probably come here for the first time of his time for business purpose,” second vice-president of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) Siddiqur Rahman told reporters on Sunday.
Mr Persson is expected to visit Prime Minister Office (PMO) to meet the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina after a meeting with leaders of the country’s apex apparel boy BGMEA.
The clothing firm is ranked the second largest global clothing retailer, just behind Spain-based Inditex (parent company of ZARA).
H & M Hennes & Mauritz AB was founded in Sweden in 1947 and is quoted on NASDAQ OMX Stockholm.
The company’s business concept is to offer fashion and quality at the best price. In addition to H&M, the group includes the brands COS, Monki, Weekday and Cheap Monday as well as H&M Home.
The H&M Group has approximately 2,600 stores in 44 markets, including franchise markets.
