Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina Saturday night congratulated Congress President Sonia Gandhi on her party’s huge victory in the Indian Lok Sabha polls.
In a felicitation message sent to the congress chief as the results of the staggered polls were announced on Saturday, the prime minister said this victory is the reflection of the huge confidence of people of India in the Congress.
“It would help materialize the people’s hopes and aspirations and bring changes to their life, establish peace and democracy, and continue progress and development”, she added.
Sheikh Hasina, who also has led her party and Grand Alliance to a landslide victory at the recent polls, hoped the existing friendly relations between the peoples of the two countries would further deepen in the future.
According to Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad, she said that her government would closely work with the new government in India for consolidating democracy, establishing peace, removing poverty and ensuring development in the region.
He also said Sheikh Hasina wishes good health and long life of Sonia Gandhi.
