Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Sydney Thunder coach Chandika Hathurusinghe has accepted an offer to take the reins of Bangladesh's national cricket team.
The 45-year-old Sri Lankan, who took charge of the Thunder last season and was also the NSW assistant coach, will replace Shane Jurgensen reports ninemsn.com.
The Australian quit last month after a disappointing World T20 tournament where his team won just two out of seven matches, including a loss to Hong Kong.
"Obviously, we are sorry to lose someone of Chandika's ability, but it is a great opportunity for him and a great recognition of his skills and personal qualities," Cricket NSW CEO Andrew Jones said in a statement.
"He has done an outstanding job with both the NSW Blues and the Thunder."
Bangladesh host India in three one-dayers in June followed by a tour of the West Indies in August and September.
