Hauthi rebels kill 2 Bangladeshis in Saudi Arabia

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Two Bangladeshi nationals have been killed in Najran area of Saudi Arabia by the mortar shells launched by Hauthi rebels in Yemen.

The incident occurred on May 5 and 6 in Najran area of South Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, said a press statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bangladesh on Monday.
The victims are: Mr Mizan, son of Mr Mafiz of Bateshar village in Barura Police Station of Comilla, and Mr Abdul Jalil, son of Mr Abdul Aziz of Lemua village in Patharghata Police Station of Barguna.
Both the victims died while working in their farm situated 650 km away from Jeddah and 50 km from Yemen border, the statement added.
Representatives from Bangladesh Consulate General in Jeddah visited the scene immediately after the incident.
They also contacted the employers of the victims as well as family members in Bangladesh.
The remains of the victims are preserved in the mortuary of the King Khaled Hospital in Najran.
The Bangladesh Consulate General in Jeddah is coordinating with the employers so that they would send back the remains or arrange burial in line with the desire of the family members of the victims.
The consulate officials are also trying for realisation of due compensation from the employers.
