Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Two trains collided head-on in Dhaka on Monday afternoon, leaving a railway employee dead and six other people injured, officials said.

An intercity train going from Dhaka to the country’s northern Mymensingh district collided with another intercity train from the country’s southeastern port city Chittagong in the capital’s central railway station Kamlapur Station around at about 2:30 p.m. (local time), a Bangladesh Railway official reportedly said.

The dead man was identified as a security guard with the Bangladesh Railway. He died at the National Orthopaedic Hospital and Rehabilitation Institute in Dhaka.

Two of the injured were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and four to Bangladesh Railway Hospital.

Shortly after the incident, the railway authorities formed a four-member committee to launch a probe into the incident and suspended two officials.
