Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) -US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton arrived in the capital Saturday afternoon on a two-day official visit to discuss trade, security, climate change and political issues with Bangladesh.
She landed around 4:50 pm (local time) at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka where Foreign Minister of Bangladesh Dipu Moni received her.
US Ambassador to Bangladesh Dan W Mozena and Bangladesh Ambassador to Washington Akramul Quader were also present.
On a special flight, Hillary flew to Dhaka from Beijing in her tri-nation visit to Asia that would end in New Delhi. She will spend almost 24 hours in Bangladesh.
The US Secretary of States held bilateral talks with her Bangladeshi counterpart Dipu Moni Saturday evening.
Hillary headed a seven-member US delegation while Foreign Minister Dipu Moni led a 10-man Bangladesh team at the meeting that started around 5:55pm at the Prime Minister's Office in Dhaka
During the visit, Hillary is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Opposition Leader Khaleda Zia and Dipu Moni.
Hillary is expected to meet the representatives of the civil society and Professor Muhammad Yunus on Sunday.
She will leave for New Delhi Sunday around noon.
