Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Holcim Cement invested Tk 300 crore to increase its capacity in Bangladesh.

The expected target of the company is to produce 20 lakh tonnes of cement per annum, reports worldcement.com.

The company made the investment as Bangladesh is experiencing growth in cement demand amounting to about 8 percent per year, as a number of significant infrastructure projects are in the pipeline.

Speaking at a press conference in Dhaka, Aiden Lynam, area head of South Asia Region for the Holcim Group, spoke of the company’s desire to be part of that infrastructure development.

“We are committed to providing construction solutions to our clients,” Lynam said.

“Bangladesh has geared up for the next step, so we are also gearing up for the next step,” he added.

With the capacity expansion project, Holcim also installed integrated software to bring together key business processes including manufacturing, sales, distribution and supply chain, among others.
