Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) Limited in Bangladesh on Wednesday launched the third instalment of its annual export recognition program titled ‘HSBC Export Excellence Awards 2011’. 
The award program, originally launched in 2010, aims at recognizing five best exporters from Bangladesh each year for their contribution in national export and leadership in promoting the ‘Made in Bangladesh’ mark throughout the world.
Each year, five Bangladeshi exporters are awarded as the ‘Exporter of the year’ in the following five categories — Exporter of the Year – RMG and Textiles, Group A: Annual export turnover $50 million or more, Group B: 
Annual export turnover less than $50 million; Exporter of the Year- EPZ Enterprises: Companies in the Export Processing Zones of Bangladesh; Exporter of the Year-Traditional and Emerging Sectors: Annual export turnover (non RMG/Textiles) $3 million or more; and Exporter of the Year- SMEs: Annual export turnover (non RMG/Textiles) less than $3 million
HSBC Bangladesh chief executive officer Andrew Tilke at a press conference in the capital Dhaka on Wednesday said: “Exports not only keep our economy thriving, but also position the ‘‘Brand Bangladesh’’ across the world. As the world’s leading international bank, HSBC is in a robust position to be a partner in this growth journey.”
Exporters from Bangladesh can participate in the program by filling in a nomination form which can be found in the bank’s website — www.hsbc.com.bd. Nomination phase of ‘HSBC Export Excellence Awards 2011’ closes on April 30.
