Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations of 2012 will begin across the country from Sunday with 926,814 examinees taking part from 7,556 educational institutions. 
Of the total examinees, 496,395 are male and 430,419 female. The number of examinees rose by 147,373 this year. 
As many as 7,50,852 candidates including 3,65,258 female will appear in the HSC examinations under eight general education boards of the country, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said in a press briefing at his secretariat office in the capital Dhaka on Thursday.
A total of 85,226 students including 36,019 female will take part in the Alim examinations under Madrasa education board, 86,415 under vocational examinations and 4321 students in Diploma-in-Business Studies (DIBS) examinations. 
“We’re brining discipline in the education sector removing irregularities for improving the quality of education in the country,” the minister said, adding that the public examinations including SSC and HSC are now held in specific time of the academic year which is contributing to stop wastage of time. 
The results of public examinations are published within 60 days, he added.
