Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Mohammad Abdul Mannan, Managing Director of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited took over the charge of Bank’s chief executive officer (CEO) on May 19, 2013 for another three years.
Prior to assuming the position first time in 2010, he pursued a successful banking career of three decades as Head of Investment Wing, International Banking Wing, Divisional Head, Branch Manager and Remittance Marketing Officer in six Gulf countries. He did substantial works to popularize shariah based financial products, human development, inclusive growth, rural financing and remittance of expatriates’ through banking channel.
Awarded several times for his outstanding research work, socio-economic contribution and honored as Remittance Ambassador of Bangladesh in recognition to splendid groundwork for country’s foreign remittance, Mohammad Abdul Mannan is a prolific writer who authored a number of books on Bangladesh studies and Islamic banking.
Currently Mohammad Abdul Mannan is holding the posts of Vice Chairman of Association of Bankers Bangladesh (ABB), Treasurer & Chairman of Arbitration Committee of Bangladesh Foreign Exchange Dealers Association (BAFEDA) and the Chairman of Task Committee of Islamic Banks Consultative Forum (IBCF).
A fellow of Malaysia based International Centre for Leadership in Finance Mohammad Abdul Mannan participated as the resource person in different national and international seminar, workshop and conference on Islamic Banking and Islamic microfinance.
Born in 1952 Mohammad Abdul Mannan hails from Araihazar upazila of Narayanganj district who did his masters from Dhaka University with honors in political Science.
