Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited (IBBL) has opened its 310th Branch in Bakerganj of Barisal.
Prof Syed Ahsanul Alam, chairman of the Executive Committee of the bank, inaugurated the branch on Monday, said a press statement of the bank.
Islami Bank, based on Islamic economic system, has been playing a role as safe-custodian of deposits for the people who dislike interest, said Prof Syed Ahsanul Alam, as chief guest.
The bank has carrying out the fact-based activities for removing the poverty from the country, he said adding that the bank has included 1 million marginal families of 20 thousand villages with the mainstream economy of the country through its Rural Development Scheme.
He assured for expansion of more micro investment across the country.
He also called upon all for working together with Islami Bank in reaching the country to a mid-income one.
Mohammad Abdul Mannan, managing director and CEO of the bank, presided over the opening ceremony.
Helal Ahmed Chowdhury, chairman of the Audit Committee; directors of the bank Prof Dr Qazi Shahidul Alam, Md Mizanur Rahman, and Prof Dr Md Sirajul Karim; and Md Lokman Hossain Dakua, mayor of Bakerganj Municipality addressed the ceremony as special guests.
Among locals, Tahmina Begum, vice-chairperson of Bakerganj Upazila Parishad; Prof Mujibur Rahman, former principal of Bakerganj Govt. College; Amol Chandra Das Shibu, general secretary of Hindu-Buddist-Christian Okkya Parishad; business persons Abul Kalam Azad, Masud Akon and Sanjib Kumar Shaha; addressed the ceremony.
Moreover, a number of business persons, professionals and social elites attended the program.
On the eve of the inauguration of the branch, a seminar on ‘Superiority and Success of Islamic Banking System’ was held on November 20 in 2016.
