Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- A two-day International Conference for Bankers and Academics (ICBA) is going to begin at Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM) in the capital Sunday morning.

The theme of the conference is: ‘Towards Research Excellence in Business and Social Sciences’.
The main goal behind setting this objective is to provide a strong conceptual and empirical basis for policy- making, they added.
“It is expected that this conference is to increase knowledge of the functioning of the economy of Bangladesh and to provide high-quality models, tools and analyses that are relevant for different tasks and activities of money and capital market of Bangladesh,” the organizers said in a statement.
It also said an important reason for arranging this conference is to bridge the possible gap between academics and policy makers engaged in the financial sector.
The inauguration on the first day is scheduled to be followed by presentation of 64 research papers by leading scholars and bankers from home and abroad.
On the second day, three professional workshops will be held where leading experts from home and abroad are going to present papers on contemporary issues in banking and allied fields.
The conference will be a great gathering of academicians from home and abroad and generate new ideas and models necessary for forming effective policies for the financial sector, they added.
