Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Bangladesh signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with India for cooperation in pharmaceuticals on the sidelines of the 8th Asia Pharma Expo in the capital on Thursday.

The MoU was signed between the Indian Pharmaceutical Machinery Manufacturers’ Association (IPMMA) and the Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceutical Industries (BAPI), said an Indian High Commission press statement said.

The MoU was signed by the President of IPMMA, Mahendra Mehta and the Secretary General of BAPI, Shafiuzzaman, in presence of the High Commissioner of India, H.E. Harsh Vardhan Shringla.

Speaking on the occasion, the High Commissioner congratulated the two Associations and noted that the pharmaceuticals sector represented an area of high growth for both countries.

He encouraged them to fully exploit the complementarities and linkages existing between India and Bangladesh to the fullest potential.

He also assured support of the High Commission in furthering cooperation in the pharmaceuticals sector.

Mahendra Mehta, President, IPMMA, Shafiuzzaman, Secretary General, BAPI and Paresh Jhumruwala, GPE Expo Pvt. Ltd., also spoke on the occasion.
