New Delhi, India (BBN)– India confirmed 115 more cases of the deadly Influenza A (H1N1) virus on Wednesday, putting the total number of cases to 1193, the health officials said.

Of the 115 new cases that tested positive for swine flu, 61 came from Pune, 24 from Mumbai, 10 from Bangalore, eight from New Delhi, four from Ahmadabad, three each from Kolkata and Hyderabad and one each from Shillong and Goa, according to a health ministry press statement.

So far, 5729 people have been tested, of which 1193 are positive for Influenza A (H1N1), 666 out of the 5729 tested have been identified through entry screening, 1086 people through contact tracing and the rest were self reported, the statement noted.

“Of the 1193 positive cases, 589 have been discharged,” the ministry said, adding that a central team is stationed in Maharashtra to assist the state government in instituting appropriate public health measures.
