New Delhi, India (BBN)- India detected 119 more cases of the deadly Influenza A (H1N1) virus on Tuesday, putting the total number of cases to 1078, the health ministry said.
Of the 119 new cases that tested positive for swine flu, 62 came from Pune, 24 from Mumbai, 15 from New Delhi, four from Bangalore, three from Nagpur, two each from Manipal, Hyderabad and Trivandrum and one each from Maharashtra, Nasik, Goa, Ahmedabad and Jammu, according to a health ministry press statement.
So far, 5000 people have been tested, of which 1078 are positive for Influenza A (H1N1), 655 out of the 5000 tested have been identified through entry screening, 949 people through contact tracing and the rest were self reported, the statement noted.
"Of the 1078 positive cases, 549 have been discharged, nine have been died and rest of them remains admitted to the identified health facility,” the ministry said, adding that a central team is stationed at Pune to assist the state government in instituting appropriate public health measures.
