New Delhi, India (BBN)- India detected 90 more cases of the deadly Influenza A (H1N1) virus on Thursday, putting the total number of cases in the country to 1283, the health ministry officials said.
Of the 90 new cases that tested positive for swine flu, 43 came from Pune, 18 from Mumbai, 16 from New Delhi, nine from Bangalore, two from Kolhapur and one each from Mangalore and Gurgaon, according to a health ministry press statement.
So far, 6,249 people have been tested and 1,283 of them are positive for Influenza A (H1N1). A total 680 out of the 6,249 tested have been identified through entry screening, 1,107 people through contact tracing and the rest were self reported, the statement noted.
"Of the 1,283 positive cases, 589 have been discharged," the ministry said, adding that a central team is stationed in Maharashtra to assist the state government in instituting appropriate public health measures.
