New Delhi, India (BBN)- India detected 99 more cases of the deadly Influenza A (H1N1) virus on Tuesday, putting the total number of cases in the country to 2,026, the health ministry officials confirmed.

Of the 99 new cases that tested positive for swine flu, 20 came from Mumbai, 18 from Pune, 10 from New Delhi, three from each Ahmedabad, Dhule and Aurangabad, two from each Hyderabad, Cochin, Calicut, Jaipur, Dibrugarh, Nashik and one each Goa, Ghaziabad, Udupi, Manipal, Surat, Silchar, Kolhapur and Satara, according to a health ministry press statement.

So far, 10,578 people have been tested and 2,026 of them are positive for Influenza A (H1N1). A total 773 out of the 10,578 tested have been identified through entry screening, 1,644 people through contact tracing and the rest were self reported, the statement added.

“Of the 2,026 positive cases, 708 have been discharged,” the ministry said, adding that a central team is stationed in Maharashtra to assist the state government in instituting appropriate public health measures.

There is no new death reported on Tuesday. The cumulative deaths were reported 25 from different parts of the country.
