India confirms first indigenous case of swine flu

New Delhi, India (BBN) - The country’s first case of human-to-human transmission of the deadly virus of swine flu was reported on Saturday in Hyderabad, taking the total confirmed cases to eight.

The human-to-human transmission took place when a man, who came back from the United States on May 31, infected his younger brother living in Hyderabad. Both of them have tested positive for the disease, local media reported.

This is the first indigenous case of swine flu in India, doctors and health officials confirmed.

Of the eight cases, six are from Hyderabad, which also reported the first case in the country May 16 this year.
