India relaxes visa rules for Bangladeshis

Last updated: June 10, 2013
Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- India has relaxed further the medical travel permit procedure and removed two months gap stipulation between two visits for Bangladeshi tourists.
Following the signing of an agreement between India and Bangladesh earlier this year, the first Secretary (political and Information) of the High Commission Sujit Ghosh told the state-run BSS the provision of minimum two-month gap between two visits of tourists has been relaxed so that people with short visit can travel India more frequently.
"A dedicated medical emergency counter at India Visa Application Centre (IVAC), Gulshan, accepts medical visa applications even before schedule appointment date, and visa are issued for deserving applicants at the earliest," he said.
However, every applicant has to fill in an online application through website http:/indianvisaonline.gov.in for processing all types of visa, he said.
Ghosh said though every applicant is allotted a specific time, but applications are accepted between 8.30 and 1300 hrs given the traffic congestion and other reasons causing trouble to reach the visa centres in time.
Accordingly the passport delivering time at IVAC, Gulshan, has been extended up to 1900 hrs giving more time for the applicant to collect its processed passport, he said.
The First Secretary said, one member of a family (self, spouse and children) can submit applications on behalf of all. Members of a family with different appointment dates can submit applications on the first appointment date and all members need not to be present, he said.
Ghosh said, processed passport can be collected by anyone onproduction of the receipt and senior citizens over 65 years can
submit and collect applications through an authorized person.
He requested the applicants to be careful about any mistake in the application and contrast between the information in the application and passport or documents.
He also urged the applicants to remain cautious about fake endorsement of dollar, bank account, address and documents
enclosed with the visa application.
