Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-India Captain MS Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat first against Bangladesh in the second ODI of three-match series in Mirpur of Dhaka on Sunday.
Today’s play is scheduled to begin at 3:00pm at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur of Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh.
After winning toss, MS Dhoni says he wanted to bowl first in the first game because of rain threat but there is less rain threat today.
Dhoni says the team has to be ready with Plans B and C. Big changes.
They have dropped Ajinkya Rahane, Umesh Yadav and Mohit Sharma. In come Ambati Rayudu, Axar Patel and Dhawal Kulkarni
On the other hand, Bangladesh remain unchanged.
Dhoni said there will be a bit more pressure on Bangladesh now that they can realistically think of a series win.
Earlier on June 18, the first ODI between the two neighbouring countries were held were Bangladesh defeated India by 79 runs.
The rest one ODI will be played on 24 at the same venue.
However, the hosts’ convincing victory in the opening one-dayer of the three-match series has put Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s men under immense pressure, media reports said.
With threat of a shocking series defeat looming large, India will be aiming to come out all guns blazing in the second ODI in Mirpur on Sunday.
Like the first ODI, rain threat is looming large over today’s play also.
Meanwhile, securing victory in the first ODI, Bangladesh remain in the top eight in the ODI rankings to be qualified for the Champions Trophy.
After the gain, the hosts are now waiting for the outcome of the upcoming series against South Africa and the Pakistan-Sri Lanka ODIs to change things again.
Earlier on June 14, the lone Test match between Bangladesh and India came to a conclusion with a draw after the each and every day play of the five-day game was affected by rain in Fatullah.
The situation that Bangladesh and India faced during the lone Test is likely to repeat in the three ODIs game as latest weather report forecasts heavy rain in Dhaka.
The forecast is not good till June 24 when the last match is to be played.
Experts said they might see shortened games instead of full 50-over contests due to impending rain.
Sources said, for the first time in the country’s history, a Test match was played in the month of June which is rainy season.
All three ODIs however have reserve days considering monsoon season.
