Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Mumbai-based Kingfisher Airlines on Friday made its inaugural flight from Dhaka to Kolkata with about 50 passengers on board.

With this flight, the Indian carrier that had been rated as 'India's only five star airline' by Skytrax, officially commenced its operation in Bangladesh.

Dhaka has been the third foreign destination after London and Colombo for this Indian carrier, which already has won the right to fly to 13 international destinations, Kingfisher officials said.

"We see a great business potential in the aviation industry of Bangladesh and look forward to working even closer with our local counterparts," Vice President (Global Sales) of Kingfisher Airline S. Ramachandran said at the inaugural ceremony.

He also said its flights will be operated using the twin-turboprop ATR aircraft, featuring the award winning Kingfisher onboard experience. The Dhaka-Kolkata-Dhaka flight will be operated as Kingfisher Red service, which is a unique class of low fare flying, he added.
