Mumbai, India (BBN)-Indian rupee was trading lower by 22 paise at 66.82 against the dollar in early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market on increased demand for the US currency from importers.
Besides, strength in dollar against other Asian currencies and a lower opening in domestic equities also kept pressure on the domestic unit, dealers said, reports the PTI.
The rupee had gained one paise to close at 66.60 in yesterday’s trade on the back of mild dollar selling.
Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex fell by 77.38 points or 0.30 per cent to 25,502.96 in early deals.
