Indian Rupee extends gains, up 11 paise against US dollar

Last updated: March 2, 2016

Mumbai, India (BBN)-India rupee added to its gains by rising 11 paise to a fresh three-week high of 67.74 against the dollar on Wednesday on continued selling of the US currency by banks and exporters and a robust opening in the equity market.
Fresh foreign funds inflow supported the local currency, but dollar’s strength against others overseas capped the rupee’s gain, reports the PTI.
The rupee had logged this year’s biggest single-day gain of 57 paise to close at a nearly three-week high of 67.85 in yesterday’s session on fresh selling of dollars in view of a sharp recovery in domestic stocks.
