Mumbai, India (BBN)-Indian rupee was trading strong at 68.08 in the pre-noon session on fresh selling of the American currency by exporters.
Besides, the dollar’s weakness against some currencies overseas and a firm domestic equity market supported the rupee, dealers said, reports PTI.
The domestic unit opened strong by 19 paisa at 68.13 against the previous close of 68.32 per dollar at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market today.
It hovered in a range of 68.13 and 68.07 before quoting t 68.08, up 24 paisa at 11.40 am local time.
Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex was trading higher by 80.69 points or 0.3 per cent at 27,221.10.
