Mumbai, India (BBN)-Indian rupee was trading higher by 7 paise at 66.62 against the US dollar in early trade on fresh selling of the American currency by exporters and banks.
Forex dealers said a strong opening in domestic equity markets too supported the rupee, but dollar’s strength against other currencies overseas on upbeat US jobs report capped gains, reports the PTI.
The rupee had shed 4 paise to close at a one-week low of 66.69 per dollar on Friday’s trade after touching more than two-year low of 67.01 during intra-day.
Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex recovered by 147.42 points or 0.55 per cent to 25,785.53 in early trade.
