Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– Sahara India Pariwar has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Housing and Public Works Ministry for investment in the housing industry of Bangladesh.
The MoU will cover potential investment by the Indian company to set up four satellite townships around capital Dhaka and other housing projects in the country.
Chairman of Sahara India Pariwar Subrata Roy Sahara, and Joint Secretary (development) of the ministry Syed Matlubur Rahman and Chairman of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) Engineer Nurul Huda signed the MoU on behalf of their respective sides on Wednesday
State Minister for Housing and Public Works Abdul Mannan Khan was present on the occasion.
After the deal, the Sahara chief said Bangladesh seems to be his own country as his forefathers were born here. “This inspired me to invest in Bangladesh.”
Asked how much Sahara will invest in the housing industry of Bangladesh, Subrata said they would decide it later.
He also said they would work here on the basis of mutual understanding with the businesspeople in the real estate and housing sectors of Bangladesh.
Abdul Mannan said the government took the initiatives to set up four satellite townships around the capital to ease the burden of population on Dhaka city. “We’ve urged local and foreign companies to invest in the country’s housing industry. If anyone comes forward, we’ll welcome them.”
