New Delhi, India (BBN)-The federal anti-terror agencies of India and Bangladesh – the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) – may soon sit together to shares notes with each other on Burdwan probe and activities of Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen (JMB), sources said.
“It will be the first official agency to agency contact between the two countries on Burdwan probe and JMB activities which are turning into a source of shared concern as well,” said a counter terror official requesting anonymity.
“The meeting is likely to take place at Petrapole-Benapole check post at Indo-Bangladesh border,” he said.
Other details of the meeting are being finalised,” added the official.
Sources said the RAB has been effectively dealing with the threat from JMB and it was pressure from the Bangladeshi anti-terror agency that forces the terror outfit’s members to shift base to West Bengal’s bordering district Burdwan, reports the Hindustan Times.
Intelligence agencies of Bangladesh and India have shown excellent cooperation on terror front in the last few years.
In indication of the cooperation between the two countries came two days back when Sajid, the chief of JMB module in India was arrested by the West Bengal police and his brother was picked up by RAB in Bangladesh.
Now the investigation agencies of the two countries will share notes as well on the Burdwan probe.
The NIA is keen to tap the RAB database on JMB to get more details of its activities.
