Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Shakir Qasem Mahdi Al-Kaffaf, the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in Dhaka called on Foreign Minister Dr. Dipu Moni on Sunday at her office in the capital Dhaka.

Foreign minister expressed satisfaction over the excellent bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries based on shared history, faith, culture and values.

She stated that Bangladesh is always working with the brotherly countries to maintain peace and security around the globe.

In this respect she mentioned that Bangladesh is the largest contributor to the UN peacekeeping troops deployed in various conflict zones for maintaining world peace and security. She also stated that Bangladesh remained committed to extend all sorts of cooperation for Iraq’s reconstruction and its aspiration for achieving complete stability.

Dr. Dipu Moni mentioned that Bangladesh had a reserve of professionals, skilled and semi-skilled workers and they had previous experience to work in Iraq in different sectors. She requested the Ambassador to take note of this and consider importing professionals, skilled and semi-skilled workers for the reconstruction of Iraq.

The ambassador, in response, expressed his gratefulness for receiving him and reciprocated the sentiments of the foreign minister.

He acknowledged the assistance and cooperation extended to Iraq by Bangladesh. The ambassador apprised the foreign minister of the Iraqi government’s pragmatic policy to rebuild Iraq since 2006 with the active participation of the people.

The ambassador earnestly invited the foreign minister to visit Iraq. Foreign minister gladly accepted the invitation and told that she would undertake the visit at a mutually convenient time, a foreign ministry press statement said.
