Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – The state-owned Janata Bank Limited has earned the highest operating profit of BDT 16.05 billion among all the public and private commercial banks in the country in the last calendar year (2011).

The bank earned operating profit of BDT 12.08 billion a year before (2010). Besides, the bank has also been earning highest working profit for the last three consecutive years.

The state-owned commercial bank (SCB) has also achieved a significant success in terms of performances in deposit mobilization, export business, foreign remittance, recovery of classified loans etc.

The bank has achieved over 10 percent growth in reducing classified loans. Present rate of classified loans of the bank is 4.34 percent which is lowest among all the four SCBs. The deposit of the bank has scaled up to BDT 36.185 billion which is 26.27 percent higher than that of the previous year.

All other indices of the bank have also maintained an upward trend, the bank has said.
