Chittagong, Bangladesh (BBN)– A Japanese company, City Network Inc., will set up an agro-processing plant in the port city apart from its current engagements in various areas.

Hisayuki Mutoh, a high official of the company, informed this during a meeting with the leaders of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) at the CCCI office on Sunday.

CCCI acting president Nurun Newas Salim, and directors Mazharul Islam Chowdhury, SM Mahbubul Islam, M Emdadul Hoque Chowdhury, M Ahid Siraj Chowdhury, M Jahurul Alam, Mohammad Habibul Hoque, Morshed Arif Chowdhury and Omar Faruque were, among others, present in the meeting.
During the meeting, Nurun Newas Salim said Japan is a very important partner in socio-economic development of the country.

He sought more Japanese investment in Bangladesh in order to reduce the trade gap between the two countries.

Hisayuki Mutoh said labour is very much cheap and available aplenty in Bangladesh compared to that of China and this is the reason the Japanese are becoming more and more interested to invest in the prospective sectors including agriculture here.

He urged the CCCI to help establish joint-platform to export quality vegetables from Bangladesh to Japan.
