Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida arrived in the capital Dhaka n Friday evening on a two-day visit to hold talks for promoting bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Kishida, who is leading a 20-member official delegation, arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at around 8:15pm, official said.

“The visit is expected to gather further momentum in the existing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Japan, which is the single largest bilateral development partner of Bangladesh,” a foreign ministry statement said.  

Different issues of socio-economic development are expected to be discussed during the meeting, according to the statement.

The Japanese Foreign Minister will hold bilateral talks with his Bangladesh counterpart AH Mahmood Ali at 11am, Saturday at the Foreign Ministry to discuss ways to comprehensively strengthen the bilateral relations with Bangladesh.

During his stay in Dhaka, he will also meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, according to Japanese Embassy in Dhaka.

Kishida is scheduled to leave the capital  on Saturday.
