JICA to provide BDT 1.0 billion loan to repair risky garment buildings

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will provide BDT 1.0 billion in loan for repairing risky buildings of garments factories to check accidents like Rana Plaza collapse. 
JICA informed the Bangladesh Bank (BB) about this decision during a meeting on Tuesday, officials said.
"The JICA will provide this soft loan under its small and medium loan program" a BB senior official said, adding that an entrepreneur will be given highest BDT 1.0 million from this find. “A total of 250 garment entrepreneurs will get support from it.” 
Loan will be allocated on the basis of inspection reports of the  JICA representatives. The loan amount is repayable by 10 years with a grace period of two years.
