Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Eminent journalist and freedom fighter Tozammel Ali died of renal failure at Lab Aid Hospital in the capital Dhaka Saturday afternoon. He was 76.
Doctors confirmed his death at 3.30 pm. He was suffering from diabetes and others health complications for long, according to the family members.
Tozammel Ali, a language veteran and a valiant freedom fighter, worked in different national dailies including the Daily Sangbad, Banglar Bani and Dainik Janata in various capacities.
Apart from journalism, he was involved in the country's progressive politics. He left behind his wife, three sons, two daughters and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
Motlub Ali, brother of Tozammel Ali and dean of Fine Arts Institute of Dhaka University said reportedly that he (Tozammel) would be buried in Dhaka.
Tozammel Ali born in a respected Muslim family in Munshipara under Rangpur district.
His father Chheraj Ali was an eminent social worker.
