Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – The people of Bangladesh should give another change to Awami League (AL) to complete the development revolution, Sajib Wazed Joy said.
“Continuation of development activities should be retained at any cost for a new and modern Bangladesh. It’s an important time now for the country as the history’s most significant parliamentary election is round the corner. The future of Bangladesh will depend on this election,” he said.
Joy, son of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said this while speaking at a function on “Vision- 2021, achievements of the past five years and commitment for the next five-year” at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the capital Dhaka on Friday.
Suchinta Foundation organised the function in which Joy exchanged views with a cross section of successful professionals and personalities.
Mohammad A Arafat moderated the meeting, also addressed, among others, by eminent economist Dr Abul Baraquat, former skipper of Bangladesh Cricket Squad Sakib Al Hasan and celebrated musician Maksudul Huq.
Informing his audience that the per capita income of Bangladesh would be doubled if Awami League could come to power again, Joy said the growth of GDP would be taken to eight to 10 percent from the existing 6.5 percent and the fourth generation (4-G) service of mobile phone would be introduced in the country.
He was of the opinion that there would be a scope for transforming Bangladesh into a developed country if the vision- 2021 could be implemented.
The Prime Minister’s Information Technology (IT) affairs adviser said there was radical change in the country over the past five years. “The corruption declined to half. Just think where we were and where we are now,” Joy said.
He added that the young generation would take the country to its desired destination and for the purpose, the continuation of running the state affairs should be retained to reach the desired goal and people should be reminded about the matter.
Joy said: “The opposition has been criticising us in many ways. But, they never say what they will do in future. They never place the future plan. Neither they say what they will do to revamp the state economy and how they would contain militancy and terrorism because the corrupt persons and terrorists are with them. They pursue politics with Rajakars (collaborators of Pakistani occupation forces). How they would say that they would stamp out militancy?”
