Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): A delegation of JP Morgan Chase Bank NA, an US-based investment bank, visited the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Tuesday to observe investment opportunities and capacity of the country’s stock market.

The four-member team included JP Morgan vice president Stephen Phillpotts and assistant vice president Raushanah Bowdre, and Standard Chartered Bank director of Service Management and Transaction Banking Simon Kyte and head and director of Investors and Intermediaries Financial Institute Md. Tanzir Islam.

JP Morgan is investing in various share markets across the world through Standard Chartered since 1992.

During the visit, the team talked with the newly elected board of directors of DSE as well as officials of its administrative and information technology departments.

They discussed about DSE’s investment opportunities, capacity, progress of demutualization, clearing and settlement process, and introduction of new index and trading software etc.

DSE president Ahsanul Islam focused on the government’s various steps taken to bring stability in the stock market and to attract foreign investment.

DSE has become a centre for investment to foreign investors due to the government’s capital market-friendly policies, he added.

Tanzir Islam said JP Morgan Chase team visited DSE to overview investment capacity.

“We have discussed DSE’s development activities and overall business scenario. We will always extend our cooperation towards DSE in future,” he added.
