Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– The budget session of the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) is likely to start May 27 this year, Speaker Abdul Hamid said.
“We have sent a proposal to President Zillur Rahman for convening the session on that date,” the Speaker told reporters at his Sangsad Bhaban office in the capital Dhaka on Wednesday.
He said the last session of the House was prorogued on March 29, and in line with the constitutional provision, the next session must begin on or before May 28.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith earlier said the budget for fiscal 2012-13 is likely to be tabled in parliament on June 7 and passed on June 28.
This will be the fourth budget of the Awami League-led grand alliance government since it assumed office in January 2009.
