JS okays BDT 2.95 trillion budget for FY’ 16

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-The Jatiya Sangsad (national parliament) on Tuesday passed the BDT 2.95 trillion budget for the 2015-16 fiscal year.
The national parliament of Bangladesh also adopted the Appropriation Bill 2015 by voice vote, led by Finance Minister AMA Muhith, seeking budgetary allocations of Tk4,15,308 crore for meeting its development and non-development expenditures for various ministries.
The next setting of the 10th session of the parliament will resume on July 5, said Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury after passing the budget.
The budget has an outlay of Tk 2.95 trillion with Tk 97,000 crore for Annual Development Programme (ADP) and a deficit below five percent.
Earlier on Monday, the parliament passed the Finance Bill 2015 with some amendments that include cuts in the proposed higher tax at source on exports, corporate tax, VAT on private universities and supplementary duty on internet uses.
